Today Kirk Gibson turns 53...I can still remember late in 1979 when Gibby hit a line drive home run in the old Arlington Stadium in Texas...Tigers play by play man George Kell couldn't believe that anyone could hit a ball out while a 25 mph wind was blowing in from right center field...right where Gibby hit that laser line drive, but the former Spartan wide receiver had the brut strength that Tiger fans had been hearing about, and after a slow start, possibly in part to a comment by Tigers manager Sparky Anderson calling him the next Mickey Mantle, but nonetheless, Kirk Gibson was just getting started...and the 1984 post season belonged to Gibby and the best team in baseball, the '84 World Champion Tigers...Happy Birthday Gibby!
My blog on my collection of Detroit Tigers baseball cards, which I have been collecting since the late 1960's, especially those of my boyhood hero, Bill Freehan.

In today's mailbox was the first shipment of Tigers cards I've received since I began my blog earlier this week...
2010 Topps National Chicle #40 Johnny Damon
#224 Al Kaline
2010 Bowman #198 Austin Jackson RC
#199 Scott Sizemore RC
2009 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions #30 Al Kaline
Total cost was $8.07...thanks to Bleacher Sports...the cards are super......getting a Jackson RC, and a Sizemore RC for just .99c ea was great...my favorite cards was the '09 UD Al Kaline Goodwin card, I love the art work...the back of the card is very crisp, clean, and showing Kaline's 1958 stats...a .314 avg., 27 home runs, 128 rbi, in 617 ab's...and a nice logo of the Olde English Tigers "D" .
2010 Topps Series 2..Love the USATigers Caps cards!!!!
OK, I am giving s a shout out to all my collector fans...HELP.!!!!!
I have seen the Tigers All-Star USA cap cards...and I have decided I will try to obtain the entire set of them...
If any of you have these cards, please let me know. I have a very limited income...I am on disability, but I would be interested in anything affordable to me. Thanks for your help.
Ty Cobb, Al Kaline, Hal Newhowser, Max Scherzer, Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander, Rick Porcello...or any Series 2 Topps inserts...thanks again.

Let's talk Tiger Baseball cards
I started collecting baseball cards in the late 1960's, but got out about a dozen, or so, years ago. I'm looking to get back into collecting again, but my focus will be the Detroit Tigers exclusively, with one exception...this years Topps cards...I turned 50 this year, so I want to collect the entire 2010 Topps Baseball set, and I want to try and put together as much of the 196o Topps set as possible...I was born in Feb. of '60 in Kalamazoo.
I loved Bill Freehan, the Tigers All-Star catcher of the mid '60's to mid '70's...even though I have every regular issue Topps Freehan card, I am always looking to add to my collection.
The 1973 Freehan card shown above is my favorite because if you look closely Freehan's trying to tag the runner out...but the ball is in his right hand.
Freehan's RC is 1963 Topps #466. It's never moved in price...$60.00
I would love to talk Tigers baseball cards, about the Tigers 2010 team, or just baseball, and baseball catd collecting in general.
Until next time, take care, and God Bless.
